Mundaring Weir Hotel

Mundaring Weir Road, Mundaring WA 6073
The Mundaring Weir Hotel is situated in the heart of State Jarrah Forest just 45 minutes from Perth. It is built on the first piece of freehold land, five minutes walk from the Weir. The drive from Kalamunda is particularly scenic. Colourful wildflowers line the roadside and at dusk kangaroos can be seen grazing at dusk. Less than an hour from the heart of the city, you can enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the Australian bush and superb Hills lifestyle. The Mundaring Weir Hotel was built in 1898 by Fred Jacoby, it was then called The Reservoir Hotel and consisted of one storey building which can still be found behind the two storey addition built around 1906.Some of the building materials for the construction of the hotel were brought out to Australia from England by sailing ship. A bricklayer doing repairs to the foundation of the fireplace, which is now the Coffee Shop found bricks bearing the name of his home town in the north of England. The hotel is at the centre of many walk trails meandering through the state forest and around the Weir. Two new walk trails have just been completed by the National Trust, a two kilometre walk and a five kilometre walk. Both of these give a wonderful interpretation of the Weir and it surroundings as you walk. The 963.1 kilometre Bibbulmun track goes past the Hotel, the terminus is 50 kilometres away in Kalamunda. Staff will be happy to give you more details. The hotel units are situated in the Hotel gardens, with some units overlooking the pool area, and others the forest. The units are made up as twins or doubles, and some also have bunk beds. All the units have open fireplaces, and fire wood is provided.
