Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery is located in the Port Pirie Regional Tourism and Arts Centre, adjacent to the silos and wharf area in the City of Port Pirie. The Gallery aims to provide opportunities for regional South Australian artists and to foster the development of a rich cultural life for the communities of Port Pirie and the Southern Flinders Ranges. It also has much to offer the travelling public, providing as it does an insight into the artistic life of the region. The Gallery conducts a diverse program of exhibitions annually, with the emphasis on regional South Australian artists. It also hosts national touring exhibitions from major Australian cultural institutions and develops exhibitions of topical and community interest. Celebrating 120 years of production in 2009, the Nyrstar Port Pirie Lead Smelter is a significant contributor to the Port Pirie Community and the Mid North Region. Producing and exporting lead, zinc, silver and gold from site on the Upper Spencer Gulf, the smelter is part of the Nyrstar Pty Ltd group, one of the largest integrated zinc and lead producers in the world. Tours of the Nyrstar Port Pirie Smelter are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday through the Port Pirie Tourism and Art Centre.
Port Pirie's newest youth attraction, 4Shore Sk8 Park, was officially opened in July 2008. This long-awaited project was the result of tireless campaigning and hard work from a dedicated organising group, including young skaters and bike riders who helped design the park. 4Shore Sk8 has become the hottest hangout in Port Pirie for both children and teenagers. Skaters and bike riders leaping gracefully over jumps have added extra colour to the skyline, with the magnificent Flinders Ranges as a backdrop.
