As well as being an idyllic place for a scenic drive, a picnic with friends, or bushwalking, Mundaring Weir is also an important part of Western Australia's heritage. Located in natural bushland in the Perth Hills, Mundaring Weir is one of the world's greatest engineering projects. Completed in 1903, the Weir was the start of the water pipeline that pumped water to the Kalgoorlie goldfields, some 700 kilometres away. At the foot of the weir is the Number 1 Pump Station Museum where you can learn more about the brilliant engineer behind the project, C.Y. O'Connor, who endured much public criticism and tragically took his own life. A drive trail that follows the pipeline called the Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail starts at the museum. There are several walking trails around Mundaring Weir that take you deep into virgin bush. You'll see beautiful native plants, animals and plenty of birds. You can also walk across the massive concrete Weir wall. Pack a picnic and enjoy the barbecue facilities, grassed areas and shady trees. While improvement works are underway, there will be limited access both above and below the Weir wall. Mundaring Weir is about a 40 minute drive from Perth.

Relax in the tranquil bush land setting and enjoy a family picnic or hire a barbecue while watching the activities of the farm, taking photos with the camels and feed the farm animals. Partake in one of our 3 main choices in Camel Treks through our farm and native bush land; the Introductory Ride, ½ Hour Ride and a full 1 Hour Ride. Our Camels are available for Hire for Offsite events; from birthdays and weddings to shows/fetes and everything in between. We also have a Function/Training Rooms that are available for Hire for small to medium sized groups, school outings and corporate events.

Eagle's View Walk Trail is a 15 kilometre moderate loop walk around John Forrest National Park, Western Australia's oldest national park, with impressive views across the Swan Coastal Plain to distant Perth the track passes through varied vegetation types, including heath lands, open wandoo woodlands and mixed jarrah-marri-wandoo forest. This Top Trail takes walkers away from the picnic areas, initially following Jane Brook down the valley. It then climbs up the valley wall to great views of the city and ocean. The trail then weaves its way up and down valleys, creek lines and hills before heading back to the brook. There are different ecosystems along the way and spring wildflowers are spectacular. Hovea Falls is a pretty place for a picnic lunch when water is flowing. The trail follows Jane Brook back to the main visitor's area. Signs every two kilometres advise how far you have walked and how far to go. The trail can be tackled clockwise or anticlockwise. The walk trail brochure is available from the ranger's office, along with the walker's log book. Walkers must register before they head off and on their return.

Homestead Camp is located in the stunning Avon Valley National Park. Close to jarrah, marri and powderbark forest, the valleys themselves are forested with wandoo, making for peaceful bushwalks through the area. It's also a great place to see a wide variety of wildflowers and birdlife in the Spring. The campground itself is accessible only by four wheel drive and features tent sites, picnic tables, fire rings, toilets and water (untreated). It is suitable for tents and small caravans or camper trailers only. An old favourite that has been given a recent new lease of life with an extension back up the hill to make it longer and the addition of several wood lined berms. The speed you can rip around these will leave you grinning ear to ear. Suitable for most riders although timid riders can find the berm intimidating so should ride elsewhere in the network until their confidence has been built up. Easily accessable from Farrel Grove car park or part of a longer ride from other starting points. There are car parks on Mundaring Weir Rd at the western end and at the Dell at the eastern end. Alternatively, a safer place (from car crime) to park is the Calamunnda Camel Farm on Pauls Valley Rd. They welcome mountain bikers, the trail passes through their car park, the food is great and they even stock a few bike spares....

The Perth Hills Centre is an interpretive centre nestled in the heart of the Beelu National Park, which was formerly known as the Mundaring National Park. Take part in the “Nearer to Nature” interactive activities designed to enhance your nature experience. The avid hiker can join the Bibbulmun Track, which passes through the centre on its way south to Albany. If a shorter walk is preferred, there are various walking and bike trails on offer from the centre. Eagle's View Walk Trail is a 15 kilometre moderate loop walk around John Forrest National Park, Western Australia's oldest national park, with impressive views across the Swan Coastal Plain to distant Perth the track passes through varied vegetation types, including heath lands, open wandoo woodlands and mixed jarrah-marri-wandoo forest. This Top Trail takes walkers away from the picnic areas, initially following Jane Brook down the valley. It then climbs up the valley wall to great views of the city and ocean. The trail weaves its way up and down valleys, creek lines and hills before heading back to the brook. There are different ecosystems along the way and spring wildflowers are spectacular. Hovea Falls is a pretty place for a picnic lunch when water is flowing. The trail follows Jane Brook back to the main visitor's area. Signs every 2 kilometres advise distance travelled and distance to go. The trail can be tackled clockwise or anticlockwise.
