The Victor Harbor Golf Club course, not long by today's standards, needs straight shot making in order to score well. It is accorded an Australian Course Rating of 71 and is 5,962 metres. The WGSA rating is 73 and the ladies course is 5,351 metres. Fairways are generally fairly narrow and there are many trees waiting to catch the wayward shots. The course is rated number one in the Fleurieu Peninsula. Tee shot on the first hole gives a really exhilarating and breathtaking start as the tee is elevated high above the fairway adjacent to the Clubhouse with magnificent views of Encounter Bay. This is the educational studio and gallery of award winning wildlife artist Wendy Jennings. Beautiful detailed paintings, many with environmental messages in them, some quirky emus and penguins, prints, cards, and wooden sculptures are available for sale. Art lessons are offered for all ages and tuition and accommodation packages are available. In the same building is a quiet bed and breakfast.

The ever-popular guided penguin walks are a favourite to visitors to this area. The tours commence at dusk every night. Participants are part of a small group and accompany a professionally trained guide to view the penguins as they come ashore after a days fishing. The penguins make their way to their burrows where they can be seen displaying various behaviours, depending on the season. A professionally trained guide will take visitors to view the penguins in their natural habitat and interpret the biology, ecology, behaviours and adaptations of these charismatic creatures. Scientific research measuring the health of the colony and environmental management strategies implemented to benefit the penguins is interpreted to tour participants, which adds interest to the tour. Tour groups are small to ensure a high quality experience. This is a highly reputable, ethical and professionally managed eco tourism experience for all visitors to the Fleurieu Peninsula. Southern Fleurieu Fish is a shop for the serious seafood lover. Watch the professionals in the trade processing fish on site through the glass doors. The display is brimming with tantalising choices of local Fleurieu regional produce in season with the ever-popular Coorong Mullet a favourite. You can purchase from the huge range of fresh local fish and seafood including live crayfish and marron (in season), South Australian prawns, oysters and take it home or choose to have it cooked while you wait. A truly gourmet experience of simple fish and chips at its best.

The Port Elliot Maritime Heritage Trail is a self-guided walk that highlights Port Elliot's role as the first seaport for the River Murray trade. Development of the river as a significant inland transport route involved by-passing the hazardous Murray Mouth and constructing a rail link (the first public railway in Australia) between Port Elliot on the coast and the Port of Goolwa on the Murray. From 1851 to 1866 more than 500 vessels used the areas facilities as a seaport. Unfortunately the wrecking of seven vessels, between 1853 to 1864, confirmed Horseshoe Bay's growing reputation as a 'ship-trap', resulting in nearby Victor Harbor replacing Port Elliot as the coastal outlet for the River Murray trade. Four of the vessels wrecked within the bay ('Harry', 'Josephine Loizeau', 'Lapwing' and 'Flying Fish') are often exposed within the surf zone at Horseshoe Bay and continue to interest many visitors on the beach. Mystery surrounds the exact location of the remaining shipwrecks; the 'Emu', 'Commodore' and 'Athol' sites which are thought to lie outside Horseshoe Bay are yet to be located. For more information on the trail a brochure is available and five interpretive signs have been placed on the foreshore of Horseshoe Bay.

Nestled in the picturesque Hindmarsh Valley just over an hour's drive south of Adelaide, Greenhills Adventure Park offers something for all ages. Victor Harbor Winery is a family boutique winery producing premium cool climate red, white and fortified wines unique to Victor Harbor from their estate vineyards. The Cellar Door and Restaurant have been purpose built to cater for visitors including full disabled facilities. The Restaurant facility is available for functions. Families are welcome.

Adrienne and Neville are available to discuss winemaking and give tastings of their full range of wines. All wine purchases can be made at the Cellar Door.

The winery is located eight kilometres from Victor Harbor, corner of Adelaide and Mont Rosa Roads, Hindmarsh Valley. The vineyard can be seen from the Adelaide Road and is sign posted from both directions. Entry can also be made into Mont Rosa Road via Hindmarsh Valley Road from Myponga.

Mount Jagged Wines was recently purchased by Tod and Suzanne Warmer. They have already grafted one block to Pinot Noir and have begun reinvigorating the rest of the vineyard, as well as making a straight Semillon wine and a Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot and Shiraz are next with a red sparkling to be produced from this harvest.

Mount Jagged Wines is situated in the Southern Fleurieu wine region, on the Main Victor Harbor Road. Mount Jagged is eight kilometres south of Mount Compass. At 320 metres above sea level, magnificent views of the vineyard, rolling hills and valleys can be enjoyed along with a panoramic view of the Coorong and South Coast.

Chardonnay and Semillon are harvested in April, with the red varieties of Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon completing the harvest by the middle of May, depending on conditions.

Our rustic Cellar Door is open on weekends for elegant cool-climate wine tastings and sales, or by appointment during the week - both for private and business groups.
