For over 50 years, the esplanade beach areas of Tannum Sands has served as the principal destination for passive and active beachside pursuits for the Gladstone Region. Lifeguards patrol the beach from September to May each year. The Tannum Sands Surf Lifesaving Club, located along Millennium Esplanade, is open to the public on weekends for meals and snacks.
