The century is a Penny Farthing tradition, dating from the 1880's. 100 miles (162km) in one day. A century takes penny farthing riders most of the day to complete with the first riders finishing mid afternoon and the last racing the sun home. Riders may also opt for a 100km ride (metric century)....

Evandale is one of the best-preserved historic towns in Australia, known for its 19th century buildings and relatively untouched streetscape, with some buildings dating back to 1809. Given its rich diversity, it's worth taking half a day to wander around with a local map. A shorter visit should at least include a walk down the High Street - one of the most attractive historic main streets in Tasmania. Evandale's traditional English atmosphere makes it ideally suited to host the National Penny Farthing Championships, held each year in February and attracting enthusiasts from around the world. Nearby to Evandale is Clarendon House, a grand Georgian mansion owned by the National Trust and one of Australia's greatest Georgian houses still standing today. This beautiful estate is all convict-built and has formal gardens and grounds, a tree-lined avenue, Italianate facade and restored early colonial outbuildings. Evandale is a 20-min drive (20 km) from Launceston and just 5 km from Launceston airport....

The Tasmanian Gourmet Sauce Company is a production and tasting centre near Evandale, 17 km south of Launceston. Surrounding the centre is the renowned open garden and topiary nursery. Enjoy a picnic while relaxing in the garden gazing at the views of the Eastern Highlands. In the Tasting Room, you'll be guided through the delicious range of products, such as a variety of berry fruit sauces, chocolate sauce and savour the award winning chutneys, mustards, pasta sauces and jams. Our products are made using the finest premium Tasmanian fruit. Beneath a leafy canopy, we provide Devonshire teas, gourmet barbecue lunches and cooking demonstrations for groups of ten or more, all prepared with local ingredients. Salads all come from the organic Potager Garden, just a few metres away. Our jam making workshops are held on weekends and all participants leave with their very own jar of jam! You can purchase all products including a range of gift packs and hampers from the centre. Interstate and overseas postage can be arranged. The wheels of time turn back 100 years as the historic village of Evandale plays host to The Evandale Village Fair and National Penny Farthing Championships. The Evandale Village Fair is held annually and features a full program of Penny Farthing racing including the National Penny Farthing Championship. Penny farthing enthusiasts converge on Evandale from throughout Australia and overseas to vie for a series of races, held on a triangular circuit in the centre of the village. Market stalls and a variety of entertainments are situated in the streets and parks surrounding the race circuit, creating the ambience of a colonial country fair. The event includes the Penny Farthing Food Fest in Pioneer Park, a wide variety of stalls offering craft, bric-a-brac and cycling memorabilia, street entertainers, clowns, music, displays of veteran and vintage cars, traction engines and horses and carriages. plus pony rides for the children and puppet shows....
